Reset Password Configuration


This setting is to enable the password reset function, this will allow an administrator to reset the password when editing that user. From this section:

Prerequisites

To enable Sitefinity CMS to send e-mails, you must have configured the SMTP settings. For more information, see Configure email settings.

Steps

  1. Open the Sitefinity Backend, and Login using an Administrator Account.
  2. Navigate to Administration ->Settings -> Advanced Settings.
  3. Allow reset password process

Navigate to Security -> Membership Providers -> Default (or any applicable provider) -> Parameters.

Change the following value: enablePasswordReset =  true

Restart the application

4. If you want users to be notified by email you must configure some additional things.

Navigate to Administration ->Settings -> Advanced Settings.

Navigate to Security » Membership Providers » Default (or any applicable provider) » Parameters.

Click recoveryMailAddress and in Value and enter the email that will appear when the new password is sent to the user. By default, there is no value set as a recovery email. If you do not set it, password recovery will not work.

Restart the application.
